Metro Water Recovery recognizes essential wastewater workersÂ
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
APRIL 17, 2025
DENVER — Metro Water Recovery is proud to celebrate the employees who help clean millions of gallons of water every day to be suitable for agriculture, aquatic life, recreation and water supply.
As essential workers, the nearly 500 employees at Metro’s three facilities – the Robert W. Hite Treatment Facility in Denver, the Northern Treatment Plant in Brighton, and the METROGRO Farm in Deer Trail – act as stewards of the environment by ensuring critical wastewater infrastructure runs smoothly 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Gov. Jared Polis has declared April 14-18 Wastewater Worker Recognition Week, a statewide initiative that highlights the vital role of these often-unseen professionals.
This recognition acknowledges wastewater treatment workers who keep our systems running safely and efficiently, including:
- Operators
- Maintenance personnel
- Laboratory workers
- Sewer maintenance workers
- Biosolids workers
- Industrial waste pretreatment workers
- Administrative workers
- Engineers
The work of these dedicated employees is essential not only for public health but also to protect water as a valuable economic, environmental and recreational resource. To learn more about how Metro supports clean water in Colorado, visit MetroWaterRecovery.com.
