Informational session for award-winning workforce development program

Metro Water Recovery will highlight the Electrical Instrumentation Apprenticeship Program

DENVER — Metro Water Recovery is offering an informational session for those interested in launching a rewarding career in the electrical instrumentation field.

Electrical Instrumentation Technicians perform preventive maintenance for power supplies, pumps and generators. The position is critical to the ongoing operations of Metro, which treats the wastewater for approximately 2.2 million people in the metropolitan Denver area every day.

The apprenticeship is a four-year program that combines on-the-job training, college courses and additional outside training. Informational session attendees will learn about key requirements and prerequisites for the program. They will hear firsthand from staff who have successfully navigated the apprenticeship and will have an opportunity to ask questions.

“The goal of this program is to ensure that Metro has a qualified, diverse and knowledgeable workforce with candidates who are prepared to fill necessary positions today and in the future,” Director of Maintenance Orren West said.

The informational session is scheduled from 11 a.m. to noon on Nov. 14 at the Robert W. Hite Treatment Facility at 6450 York Street in Denver, followed by an optional 30-minute tour of the facility. RSVPs are required by reaching out to employment@metrowaterrecovery.com

Earlier this year, Metro was recognized by the wastewater industry for its innovative program to develop talent for critical maintenance positions. The National Association of Clean Water Agencies awarded Metro a 2024 National Environmental Achievement Award in the category of Workforce Development for this work.
