Item 403.5(b)(8) of 40 CFR Part 403 General Pretreatment Regulations for Existing and New Sources of Pollution prohibits the introduction of any trucked or hauled pollutants to the Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) except at discharge points designated by the POTW. Metro Water Recovery accepts the following hauled and trucked waste at the designated points after meeting the listed requirements:

Do I need a Hauled Waste Permit from Metro?
Metro requires a Non-Hazardous Routine Hauled Waste Discharge Permit be obtained prior to the discharge of hauled waste at the Robert W. Hite Treatment Facility.
A permit application can be found on the website. All questions must be answered. If a question does not pertain to your company mark N/A – not applicable.

The completed hardcopy must be mailed or hand-delivered; electronic submittals sent via email or fax will not be accepted, but may be sent in addition to the hardcopy.
What are the costs associated with hauled waste?
- Permit Application fee is $25.00
- Vehicle permit fee is $10.00
- Discharge fee is $0.15 a gallon (2026). Metro charges each discharge based on the tank size of the hauled waste vehicle, not the volume offloaded from the tank.
