During the December 21 Board of Directors meeting, the recipient of Metro Water Recovery’s Chairman’s Award was announced. Board Chairman Scott Twombly recognized Human Resources Employment Manager Patricia Lopez as the 2021 Chairman’s Award winner. Here’s a selection from his remarks:
Under normal times Patricia has a challenging job. But now, under this more difficult employment environment, it has taken on a whole new life. Perseverance, Creativity, Professionalism, a Positive Attitude, and just Downright Hard Work are a few words to describe how Patricia manages to stay ahead when many other employers are not fairing nearly as well. Patricia had to quickly adjust and adapt to the way so many parts of the hiring process are done remotely. She also needed to be prepared to address all the new requests coming from candidates empowered by this lopsided market. Thanks to Patricia Lopez and the support she receives, Metro Water Recovery is doing an excellent job of recruiting and retaining employees.

The 10th recipient of the Chairman’s Award, Lopez’s been added to the Chairman’s Award plaque located in the lobby of the Administration Building at the Robert W. Hite Treatment Facility (RWHTF).
The Chairman’s Award recognizes Metro employees for consistently exceeding job expectations, working to meet department and division objectives, and collaborating with coworkers to complete tasks to create a positive work environment.
